CHICAGO — Luxury design brand Holly Hunt has added the work of Parisian-born glassblower Jeremy Maxwell Wintrebert to its portfolio through an exclusive range of lighting.
Known for his large-scale illuminated sculptures and installations, Wintrebert’s pieces include four pendant light fixtures designed and produced in his Paris atelier.
A passionate advocate for preserving the art of glassblowing, Wintrebert employs a small yet specialized team to realize his original designs in free-blown glass, using techniques he mastered while apprenticing at glass studios such as Dale Chihuly in Seattle and Davide Salvadore in Murano.
Inspired by the conditional behavior of natural light, this collection is the result of a careful study of how various weather patterns and seasons affect the quality and temperature of sunlight.
“Glass is magical to me, alive in the way it moves, glows and shines. Our first collection for Holly Hunt captures the emotion of how different kinds of light make me feel,” said Wintrebert, founder of JMW Studio.
The JMW Cloud pendant for Holly Hunt
The Cloud Pendant, aptly named for its billowing cloud-like form, is a free-blown glass sculpture with tonal filigree — or threads of colored glass — woven throughout the structure.
Designed to evoke the sharp, linear light of a winter sky after snow, the Winter Light Pendant foregrounds the complex technique of filigree in a style that Wintrebert has been developing for more than a decade.
Like its wintry cousin, the Autumn Light Pendant is a free-blown glass sculpture that puts Wintrebert’s signature filigree technique at center stage. The glass, however, is opaque, thus resulting in a more dramatic contrast between the shade and its curvaceous patterns.
Although its name translates to “Little Pill,” the Pilule Pendant is quite generous in size. Comprising two separate pieces of glass that are fused together while still in molten form, the illuminated glass sculpture is inspired by the horizon.
The collection is available in three metal finishes: Golden Bronze, Dark Bronze and Blanc Lacquer. As a nod to Wintrebert’s childhood spent in Africa, each piece comes packaged with yards of brightly colored traditional African wax cloth. The collection is available through all Holly Hunt showrooms and at the Holly Hunt website.
